Dental prophylaxis, also known as "deep cleaning" is the most important dental procedure for the prevention of certain diseases and oral health status alterations.
Patients usually have the belief that having a dental prophylaxis from time to time is more than enough. This is completely false. Ideally, do this procedure every six months, but not get confused, dental prophylaxis is only a preventive measure and can benefit in many ways, but not enough to combat and eradicate tooth decay and other conditions previously established.
